Faith and religious traditions in the Iblei are mainly Christian but influenced by ancient pagan and Jewish rituals. The itinerary is an excursus of all those influences present in our area, which are still protagonists of the popular devotional piety nowadays and whose few Jewish and pagan architectural elements can be observed by visitors.
I27 Sub-route 1 – Scicli “Feast of San Giuseppe”
Route description: We will get to Scicli in the afternoon. From Piazza Italy we will head to San Giuseppe street where we will visit the homonymous church. After the visit, we will continue by visiting the dammusi where families, traditionally, make up the wonderful “little pictures” (quadretti) by using branches of palm trees which depicts the Holy Family and other sacred symbols. Afterward, we will visit the Museum della Cavalcata located Spadaro street. In the afternoon we will take part to the the feast.
